Week of Praye.
At a conference of' epresentatlve
of seven lay brotherhooda In the
United States held in Chicago, Janu
ary 23, 1908, It wa voted: ;
"That we recommend to our broth
erhoods and to other organizations of
men and to missionary boards through
out the world the observance of the
week beginning with the Sunday fol
lowing the last Thursday In Novem
ber as a week of special prayer for
the spread of Christ's kingdom among
men throughout the world." ,
This suggestion which comes from
an entirely lay source, has been heart
ily endorsed by the various authorities
In all the bodies represented, which
Included Episcopalians, Presbyterians,
Methodists, Baptists and others.
This week will be observed by St.
Peter's church, beginning on Sunday
and continuing throughout the week
with the exception of Saturday. There
will be service on' the week days at
7:30 p. m. A cordial Invitation Is ex
tended to all Christian people to Join
in these services. If their own churches
are not observing the week. And as
it represents a men's movement for
men, It Is hoped that Christian men
will respond and co-operate.
