ATWALLOWA
Mass infetinfts are the order of the
day at Wallowa county. At .Enterprise
tomorrow night auul at Lostlne the
evening following, sugar beetst wlir be
the nil-absorbing topic. . Manager Fred
G. Taylor left t..lay for Wallowa
county and with the assistance of F.
j, I'rnmwell. will discuss the propaga
tion of susar berts from a commer
cial standpoint and attempt to get the
farmers of that county to growing
beet. With railroad facilities it would
he an easy matter to transport the crop
to the factory here, end a general ef
fort will be made to get more beet
growers to work. The experiment wns
tried In a very diminutive scale this
utnmer, and Manager Taylor is con
vinced that beets will grow prolif'cly
In that county. The meetings at En
terprise and Lostlne will bring out dis
cussions and perhaps verbal contracts
for a large acreage of beets for next
year.
