The George Palmer Lumber com
pany's box factory is being tentatively
operated the last few days of ' this
week.- Small orders for local people
are being filled, though no , effort
whatever toward filling large orders
has been made. ' This is due to the
fact that one or two. plecea of essen
tial machinery are not In place, in
fact, have not arrived yet. But there
In enough of the machinery In work-

'printing press" in eastern Oregon
box factories Is expected here dally.
It Is a three-color arrangement that
labels th boxes printing on the wood
the grower's name, a picture of the
fruit and a neat background of leaves.
For instance, a tomato would be rep
resented in red, thja leaves In green
and the lettering in black. The color
combination puts the machine In a
clans by itself. The present crew s
but a diminutive one, to be enlarged
when the factory wheels turn, after
final completion of the new adjunct
to the big mill. r
