Well Known Joseph Attorney Visits In
I-a Grande Ovvr Niht.
Mr. and Mrs. Colon R. Eberhard
who were recently married ut Joseph
were In the city last evening on their
honeymoon trip to Portland, where
Mr. Eberhard will visit his mother,
Though the bride is well known here,
her acquaintance Is not as extensive
as that of the groom. Mr. Eberhard
was a candidate for nomination to the
office of Joint . representative from
Union and Wallowa counties, last
spring, and though he was defeated,
It was no fault of this county, and es
pecially La Grande. His vote in the
La Grande precincts was flattering In
the extreme. The huppy couple ar
rived In the city last evening and
spent the time between then and this
morning's train as guests of Judge and
Mrs. J. w. Knowles. After a visit to
Portland and other points, they will
return to Joseph, where Mr. Eber
hard has a lucrative law practice.

The regular high school team wjll
take the Union high school football
team into camp tomorrow afternoon
if present hopes fail not A game has
been arranged by the two, managers,
and the locals will leave tomorrow
morning for Union, where the game
will be played during the afternoon.
This will be Union's first big game
of the season, and in fact la the first
game between the two towns In two
years. Union and La Grande are two
towns that can win or take deefat
without murmur, and if La Grande is
defeated tomorrow It will admit it
openly. The Union team is also gifted
with the same virtue and In years past
there has been much good-natured
rivalry between the two organizations.
The game tomorrow has a bparlns- nn
the race for the county championship
as well, for the winner will have . to
defeat Cove to claim the laurels.
