October 28, from 2 to 4 o'clock, is
the time officially and permanently

mers and representatives of every
community In the county. Judge
Scott, the peer of good road dopesters,
was In telephone communication with
John Collier of the Commercial club
this morning, and over the wires the
meeting was definitely arranged.
Judge Scott is having monumental
success and meeting with gre;t enthu
siasm everywhere he goes In eastern
Oregon and judging from the inquiries
that come in and the highly suitable
hours which the meeting' la set for,
the convention here next Wednesday
afternoon should be on a par with
other of this section of the state.
Section Invited.
All sections and cities are invited to
be represented by the largest delega
tions possible. No official Invitation
will be lsnued, the Commercial club
leaving it to1 the press of the county
to work up sufficient enthusiasm in
respective districts. '
Personal Letters to Farmers.
The club will send out personal let
ters to farmers, where names can be
gotten and a long list is already In
the hands of the secretary urging the
farmers to attend. This Is not a par
ticularly busy time of the year for the
agriculturist and by arranging the
meeting for the afternoon, he will be
put to rio Inconvenience whatever, on
account of darkness or late hours.
Wants Stores Cloned.
Judge Scott Is especially anxious to
have the La Grande business houses
closed "for two hours on Wednesday
afternoon. Two of the largest firms
In the city have already signified their
willingness to abldo by this request
With a large attendance from the
home city and a liberal attendance
of farmers, the meeting hall should
be filled. In all probability the meet
Ing will be held In the Elks' auditori
