If a preliminary survey of the regis
tration books Indicate how the 'politi
cal wind blows, Union county will give
Taft a pleasing plurality. There are
yet msny outside precinct registration
officers who have not reported to the
county clerk and for that renon It Is
Impossible to gain poMtlve figures as
to how the republicans and democrats
compare In figures. But, by nlnr.clng
over the pages Indiscriminately, It Is
readily ascertainable that the republi
cans are running far ahead of the
democrats and will break nearly even
with all the other parties combined.
This statement Is made from a survey
of several precincts, but the republi
can color may, of course, change when
all precincts havo reported.
ItctiMI(iiiM for Taft.
In this age of straw votes, anything
pointing to connenus of opinion, is In
teresting rending. Republicans about
the court house have made It a point
to question, briefly, all republicans
who reglmer. The results of this
rough CifhvBss Is that a vast majority
of republicans are going to vote for
Taft on November I.
