In ,the matter of the monthly allow
ance to various Indigent persons. The
following warrants were ordered
drawn: D. W. Souder, $15; John Hll
derbrand. $15; Eliza Nodlne, $10;

In the matter of the application of
James Moore for admission to the
county home. Applicant admitted.
In the matter of the proposed coun
ty road petitioned for by R. D. Ham
ilton, et al., it was ordered that the
board of county road viewers meet at
the farm of R. D. Hamilton on the
15th day of October at 10 o'clock In
the forenoon and there to survey and
view out said proposed road.
In the matter of the proposed coun
ty road petitioned for by F. H. Owsley,
et al., the rc-port of the board of coun
ty road viewers was approved and the
road opened up and placed In repair
for travel upon the petitioners paying
$100 damn Res aitsi-ysed to the lands of
E. J. Dunn.

Perry, Oregon. It was 'ordered that
the clerk be authorized to advertise
for bids for the excavation. Said bids
to be opened on the 15th day of Octo
ber, 1908.
In the matter of the appointment of
a member of the board of county road
viewers. Cecil Galloway was appointed.

Highly elated over his prospects in
having secured 80 acres of govern
ment land In the King Hill drawing.
In Idaho. Dr. McMillan, the dentist,
returned to his office this morning.
Others from La Grande came home
last evening and with one -or two ex
ceptions were successful In their
quest. The general success of the
drawing resulting to Grande Ronde
people who attended, Is due to the fact
that all contestants from here pooled
their InteresU and divided the "spoils."
The following are among the success
ful ones: Dr. McMillan of this city;
Duncan McDonald. Peter McDonald,
S. N, Ayers and R. F. Chase of Allcel;
J. K. Wright of this city, and John
W. Rellly of Hilgard.
