jail. In a fight with the police later
several women were injured. They
stormed the court where the suffra
gettes were being arraigned, and as
the- prisoners were placed in the po
lice wagon, a great crowd of women
women seized the horses and held them
while others climbed into the wagon
'under the blows of the policemen's
i clubs. The mounted police finally put
' the women to flight after . swinging
their clubs vigorously.
AH the prisoners could have gone
free had they promised to never again
participate In demonstrations. They
refused to promise. Fourteen of them
were sentenced to Jail from one to
two months. Other cases were post
poned. .. , .
Fearing a repetition of the rioting
of last sight by the suffragettes, which
resulted in the death of many women,
It Is probable there -will be a forced
resignation of several cabinet mem
bers. The cabinet Is today seriously
considering the demands of the woman
leaders. The suffragettes declare they

any statement. Rumors are many and
of a varied sort. When they are run

regarding somo of Scrlbe.r's transac
