Cove Camp Will Bo Invaded With the
Spirit of a Conqueror.
The first real football game of the
valley this season will be played to
morrow afternoon at Cove, when the
local highs invade the territory of the
formidable 'enemy. Stories from the
Cove camp are to the effect that La
Grande is due to a walloping on ac
count of the star material at hand on
the other side of the valley. Walters,
the Island City star of the past. Is said
to be Included In the line-up and other
men equally as heavy atd as fast are
credited as students and players.
The locals leave during the morning
hours by rig and automobile, and will
return to La Grande Immediately af
ter the game. The Une-up will In
clude several changes, a large portion
of the squad being scheduled to play
at some stage of the game.
While Cove should be scalped, the
roQters wlU overlook accidents If the,
team makes a creditable showing
against Baker City on the local field
one week from tomorrow.

Shelton and Gent Divorce Suits Cul

The circuit court has commenced
clearing nwuy divorce cases, though
the number on the docket Is more than
usual. Two divorces have been grant
ed by Judge Knowles. Yesterday eve
ning ho freed Mlna Shelton from the
matrimonial bonds heretofore exltalng
between her and Kay Shelton. The
grounds for the action nami'd In the
complaint were desertion. She was
given the custody of their two minor
children.
The marriage ties heretofore bind
ing W. S. Gent and Fannie 11 Gent,
were also dissolved by the 'Circuit court
yesterday.

Preparations for constructing ce
ment walks on Washington avenue
between Fourth street and Depot, are
uow under way. A portion of thnt
length of sidewalk is already cement,
but aside from that. In front of the
Elks' club, the rest tins been cumber
some board walk. Two lot fronts on
Fir street, between Washington and
Adams, Is also to be cemented, thus
completing the entire block with good
walks.
