f Irtoreaws of 30 Per Cent.
The first two days' registration at
the University of Oregon has been the
greatest in the history of the institu
tion. Already nearly 475 students have
enrolled, which is greater than the
total enrollment for the whole of last
year. A large number of old irtudents
will return within the next two weeks,
and the total enrollment for the year
will reach 650, or an increase of 30
per cent over last yea.

M 'KINNEY MAY COACH.
Baker City's Rudderless Team
jSoon Have Coach.
May
Henry McKinney; one of the . star
players on the University of Oregon
football team, may be secured to coach
the football team of the Baker high
school, Bays the Herald. Jim Nichols,
who has made such a reputation with
tho team during: the oast three vears
is unable to coach this year and an
effort Is being made to secure McKin
ney to look after the boys who will
represent Baker high. .. ' ! 4
There Is a strong sentiment among
all who take any interest in high
school affairs for McKinney and much
Influence Is being brought to bear on
him to accept.. He has taken the mat
ter under advisement and the boys
will know shortly If they are to be
guided by him. As an all around ath
lete McKinney ranks among the best
on the coast and as a fotball player
he was one of the greatest men that
ever played on the University team.
He understands all the Intricacies of
the game, and knows how to get the
best results from all the men. With
such a coach Baker would again be
assured of the fastest high school team
In the state, and McKinney should be
secured by all means. Baker high has
the material for a championship team
the only thing lacking being the coach
and McKinney Is the man.
