Grande Industrial circles la the arrival
of W. P. Mohr In this city Sunday eve
ning. Mr. Mohr has purchased stock
In the Grande Ronde Meat company,
and will take entire charge of the cold
storage and packing plant recently
completed near the city, which will
give the other members of the firm an
opportunity of caring for the Increas
ing downtown and outside Interests,
Mr. Mohr was, up to a few days ago,
a member or tne big meat pacKing
concern, the Walla Walla Meat com
pany, for tne past live years. 1 nne
with that firm a cold storage plant was
Installed In the Garden City and under
his skillful management he has seen
the plant grow from the small begin
ning of killing five hogs a day until
the capacity at present is over 2000
per month, due directly to the facili
ties for caring for the carcasses, such
as the local firm has Just Installed
W4th the branch O. It. & N. line
being extended Into Wallowa, one of
the greatest hog-raining counties . In
the state, the prospect of this one
phase ol the packing Industry is Indeed
flattering to the members of the local
firm. '
Additional Improvements are con
templated for the Immediate future,
and the plant enlarged from time to
time as the needs of the buslm-H de
mand. Prior to becoming a member
of the Walla Walla firm. Mr. Mohr
spent seven years with a prominent
coast pucklng plant in the same ca
pacity he filled at Walla Walla and
will now preside over the destinies of
the local plant.
