STOCK SHOW
Prlland, Ore, Sept. 14. (Special
correspondence.) The Portland Coun
try Club and Livestock show opens
next Monday and continues all week.
It will be the largest showing of live
stock ever gathered together at one
time in the Pacific northwest, not ex
cepting the marvelous exhibit at the
Lewis and Clark fair. The speed con
tests will be extraordinary; the great
mile track is without a parallel on the
American continent; yie transporta-.
tion facilities to and from the grounds
will be excellent, as both steam and
electric roada will carry th3ir thous
ands. The beautiful amphitheater
built on steel trusses, the first of its
kind In Oregon, is already completed.
The State fair opens today under
most favorable auspices.. The build
ing and grounds are in "apple pie" or
Jer, and exhibits In all ' departments
superlof. i
Every community in Oregon should

held the highest offices within the gift
jf the organization.
