The matter of a street parade In
connection with the coming aster
show, and the exact date of the show
Itself, is yet undecided, and will re
main so until after this evening, when
the general arrangements committee
completes its tour of inspection and
canvass about the city. The inclement
weather retarded action yesterday
and only a small portion of the aster
beds were visited. The remainder
were visited today. '

Like all other products of the soil
this year, asters are late. The strik
ing fact which the committee discov
ered yesterday waa 4hat most grove ib
are reticent about entering the con
test which Is not for the Neighbor
hood club alone f r hi' reason that
they have but a fer specimens. The
committee announces today that al
most invariably they found only a few
asters, but t.hee few of a high .quali
fy.' They are richer and more far
ther developed than if the beds were
more prolific. The keynote of the
committee's wish is for every resident
who owns asters at all, to bring the
few they have. A genuine success of
the Aster Bhow depends on the readi
ness with whlcn the numerous but
limited donations of flowers are
mud(. 'Tiring specimens, even if you
only have a half dozen plunts" Is the
urgent request of the general ar
rangements commtllee. .
It has been found that the host and
most healthy blooms will be at the
height of their glory In about two
weeks, and it is natural that the show
will be held about that time. Pull an
nouncement will be made In The Ob
server as soon as the committee has
completed Its tour of inspection, and
names the dates.
