Jesse Thompson died at 4:30 yes
terday afternoon at his home on Col
Ifge street. Death was due to a com
plication of disease. Ho was affect
ed with tuberculosis and he had been
sinking rapidly of late, says the Pen
dleton East OroKonlnn.
The deceased was 43 years of age

Freewater, Sept, 2. The ev.er In
creasing popularity of the fruit festi
vals In this vicinity was evinced today
by the greatest attendance in the his
tory of the Peach Day festival.. Large
crowds from all the surrounding coun
try commenced to flock Into the little
Oregon city early this morning and a
steady stream of visitors kept up until

la, Walla were filled to the guards.

newing old acquaintances and enjoy

fled with their reception and enjoyed
