The funeral of the remains of Mia?
Hazel Clapp, the 13-year-old girl who
d'ed at the hospital Tuesday morning,
aid whose body was held lit Island
City pendlnjr the location and return
of Dun Clupp, the father, was held
from the Clapp residence In Island
City this afternoon at J:30 o'clock.
Mr. Clapp was located yesterday and
arrived home In time to attend the
funeral this afternoon. When he went
away hla child was to all appearances
ell, and the shock at learning of the
sudden demise was. of course, severe.
A. S. Geddes, the local merchant,
transacted business In Knmela today.
Mrs. T. Fatty and children, Frank,
Earl and Beatrice, left ' today (or
Portland for an extended vacation.
Dr. and Mrs. Weaver of Boise, re
turned to their home this morning
after spendlrg a day here. They have
been to Portland and expected to visit
with Mr. and Mrs. Beckley, but a delay
In the latter'a return from the coast
necessitated the Boise people's Journey
borne without seeing their relatives.
Mr. and Mra. Ernest C. Skllea of
Pendleton, returned to thelt homo
this morning. Mrs. Sktles and daugh
ter. Misa Ellzabrth' Van Antwerp spent
the summer camping In Wallowa can

Hon. W. N. Pennington, who has

ton, left this morning for his home at
Albany. En route he will spend a few
days In Pendleton, the guest of old
time friends.
Dr. Elizabeth Galllmore, who has
bee ii, visiting Mr. and Mra. George
Carpy. expects to leave this evening
for her home In Pan Jose, Cal.
Mr. and Mrs. John Court, former
residents of this county, but now lo
cated at Buhl, Idaho, were passengers
on this morning's train en route to
Portland, where they will visit a fo

Mr. and Mr. N. J. Underwood, who
recently fold their property In Elgin
left this morning for Oregon City,
where they expect to locate. M-. and
Mra. Underwood have been residents
