Seattle, Wash., Aug. 25. One of the
most representative gatherings of th
legal profession ever assembled in this
country marked the opening today of
the American Bar association's an
nual convention. While the majority
of the delegates are from the western
and coast slates, all parts of the. union
are represented. Many Interesting
matters are before the convention
chief among them being the reports of
the committee appointed to suggest
remedies and draft proposed laws to
prevent delay and unnecessary cost In
litigation. The recommendations of
the latter committee are somewhat
along the lines of Judge Taft's recent
speech. In which he deprecated th
"law's delay" and the tendency to give
the rich a legal advantage over th
poor. (
If the suggestions of the committee
of the American Bar association shall
become law, courts of appeal will
longer deride either civil or criminal
litigation brought before them
