Several flirtations resulted and young White enjoyed the sport until Patrol man Cooper, whose eagle eye had pen etrated the disguise, took him Into custody and escorted him to the city Jail. The captain In charge was forced to release the boy and send him home because of the lad's tender years. White had been attending a per formance at the Grand theater and af terwards went on a promenade with his escort He seemed to take the es capade as a huge Joke and said that he would write and tell his father how well he had fooled the Portland peo ple. He was wearing his mother's clothes, he said.
