craft Sherman was formally notified
by Senator J. C. Burrows of Michigan
at 12:30 today of his nomination as
the republican candidate for the vice
presidency. In a ringing speech of
acceptance he declared he will sup
port every statement made by W. II.
Taft.
The celebration began at t o'clock
this morning with the firing of 10
guns in salute. The city is crowded
with thousands, i Fifteen thousand
dollars was used In the celebration.
A long parade was a big feature.
When Sherman's residence was
reached, the applause, was deafening.
Secretary of State Root mads a brief
speech.
In his speech, Sherman said in
part:
