For the express purpose of unload
ing approximately 30,000 tons of coal
for regular and storage purpose. Is the
object In bringing a crew of 25 Greeks
to this city today and setting them to
work on the elevated track In the
railroad yards.
Every autumn the O. R. N. fills
its huge bunkers here with hundreds
of tons of coal for emergency use and
for the daily consumption by local
engines. A portion of the cars on
which the coal Is shipped in here, are
of the automatic unloading class, but
a large per cent of them . are not,
hence the unloading by hand system.
The crew of Greeks which arrived
here today will do this hand work,
and betorv iue ",vlr.t?r with set in.
the company will have ample coal
supply to forestall any subsequent
fuel famine on the road.
CSE OLD CHUTES.
Crane U Disabled and AU Engines Are
Filled by Hand Again.
The old coal chutes in the O. R. &
N. yards, which for several months
have been vacated, are again In use,
pending the repairs to the crane which
usually facilitates the handling of coal
on the "high line." The traveling
crane has been in the round house for
several days, and during that time all
engines are supplied with fuel from
the old -coal -chutes. As soon as the
crane is ready for service agala, the
modern method of handling coal will
be 're-adopted.
Ice Cream Social.
The ladles of the Presbyterian
church will give (n Ice cream social
at the home of Mrs. J. K. Wright on
Wednesday evening. Every one most

Sunday coming on the 16th this
month, railroad employes were paid
off today, and the city's merchants
have been seating ' several thousand
dollars In circulation by means of the
lucrative checks that come here on
the ISth of each month.
