Circuit Judge Knovvles, left Satur
day for his home in La Grande after
holding a special tterm of court In this
county for the purpose of clearing the
docket and disposing of such cases as
did not require a Jury trial. In this
matter Judge Knowles Is making good
his pledge to the people before elec
tion. Having the docket clear of such
cases for the regular term means a
great saving to the taxpayers of Wal
lowa county, as Jurymen, when sum
moned to serve at a regular term will
not be required to stay at the county
seat three or four days, an expense to
themselves as well as tho county be
fore a Jury trial can be called Huv
