Reclamation Servlm to Cover More
Iilnho Land.
W. G. Davles, engineer In charge of
the canal work In this district for the
reclamation Bervlce, reports that seven
crews of surveyors are In the field
and are scattered from the' govern
ment dam above Boise to the' Oregon
line near Payette, surveying the vari
ous laterals and work to be done un
der the co-operative plan and also the
preliminary work lor bringing more
land under water, says the Boise Cap
ital News. Altogether, he says, 192
miles of canals have been laid out,
and a portion o that amount has been
built, considerable contracted for and
the remainder ready ta be contracted.
He atse states that the old Phyllis
mining ditch is to be cleaned out and
put m condition o carry water for
Irrigation purposes. The ditch runs
from below Caldwell to an old placer
claim and was only used a few times.
Considerable valuable land will be re
claimed, under this ditch, la the vi
cinity of Greenleaf, a new settlement
on the San Francises line, and also at
Fargo, near Homedale, there will be
drops of from 50 to It5 feet, giving
several thousand hoTse power, which
will be utilized.

bors saw the Incident, and calling for

lively fight followed for a few minutes,
