next year's Fourth of July celebration
was the. happy finding of the finance
committee of the board of managers
of the celebration committee.
After several hours of careful aud
iting of all the bills presented which
Included all but a very few outstand
ing, the balance was struck last night,
which will result In a starter for next
year of about 1125.
The bunting, or a good portion of
It, and the pennants have all been
carefully packed away for future use.
A complete financial statement will
soon be made by the treasurer, and
published. The subscription list shown
a total of $8S9, which Included a bal
ance left over from the last celebra
tion of $101. Of course, La Grande
will celebrate next year, and every ef
fort will be mado to outdo the ltOI
record. Quite an undertaking, but It
Is worthy of sn attempt
Cooked Food Sale.
The ladles of the W. R. C. will con
duct a cooked food sale at the Grande
Ronde Meat company's central shop,
commencing at 8 o'clock next Satur
day. All members are requested to
bring their baskets of food. By order
of committee.

left the metropolis last Wednesday,
and visited Walla Walla and Echo on
