BAND CONCERT.
Bond and Additional Mollis Give City
Metropolitan Air, .
The band boys gave another fine
concert on the street Saturdny night.
These concerts grow in popularity
with each one given, and hundreds of
people were down town Saturday eve
ning for the sole purpose of listening
to the m AW. The . band denerves
every encouragement, and all who can
Khould patronize the carnival, that wilt
soon be here. A share of the receipts
from the different attractions goes to
the bantt, and It Is to be hoped that
after the carnival is over there will be
a sufficient amount In the treasury to
supply. the boys with uniforms. - Mr.
Housh, of the Electric company, do
servos the thanks of every person In
town for his action Saturday night, In
turning on the inenndescenty lights.
He did this gratis, simply to help out,
and of the hundreds of ladles on the
streets, It Is safe to say that not one
failed to say; "How nice!" ' ... .,.
Mrs. Brown Allowed Insurance.
Returning from Portland this morn
ing Senator J. N. Hart stated to a rer
porter for the Herald that the grand
lodge A. O. V. y. by a vote of the as
sembly, allowed the, claim of Mrs.
Harvey K. Brown for Insurance car
ried by her husband at the time of his
death. The policy Is for $2000, and
had been reported unfavorable by the
committee n jurisprudence, and also
the committee oh arbitration of the
order.' It was thought by some that
the matter was sufficiently closed and
that to reopen It would necessitate
taking It Into the courts. Senator
Hart, in company with Mrs, Brown,
stated the case In detail to a special
committee from the grand lodge and'
that body took a vote as to whether
the claim should be paid, with a re
sult In favor of Mrs. Crown, and she
will now receive the full face value of
the policy. Baker City Herald.
