structure was made, says the Walla
Walla Bulletin, It la probable that
the bridge will be accepted x at ' the
meeting of the city Council this eve
ning and the contract price ordered
paid to the -contractor, F. E. Nelson.
The test was made by use of the
two heavy fire engines, weighing to
gether 10 tons, the large steam roller,
weighing 12 tons and the smaller
horse roller, weighing seven tons. Be
sides this a team hauling one of the
fire engines was on the bridge at the
time the test was made,
Dirt weighing between 20 and SO
tons has been used on the bridge, and
this, together with the combined
weight of the fire engines, rollers and
team, made a weight of over 50 tons
piaueu on lite onuge at one time. It
was expected that there would be
some deflection, as the structure Is
47 feet In length, but there was not
the slightest give.
