Eagles Gather In Gordon City of
Montana.
Missuola, Mont., Jujy J!0. Several
hnudred Eagles, making noise enough
for several thousand ordinary hu
mans, arrived here today and took
entire possession of the Garden City.
The local lodge, GOO strong, gave the
visitors a hilarious reception Mid es
corted them to their roosts, prepara
tory to the opening of the state aerie
convention tomorrow. The three days
following will be crowded with sports
and entertainments of every known
variety, for which the Missoula aerie
has raised a fund of over 15000.
PEXDLETON PASTIME BIRNED.
Pendleton, July 20.-Shortly after
i o'clock this afternoon at the Pastime

are made of celluloid, and almost In
stantly the operator's room was a
mass of flames. Trite, the operator,
jerked the wire that lowered the trap
doors of the room, and leaped out of
danger Just in time to save himself

they strongly recommend that every
housewife boll all the water used for
domestic purposes. The water has
been muddy for some days and the
people on the hills have been almost
without water. It Is generally con
ceded that there is no remedy availa
ble except to put In an entirely new
system.
Death of Pendleton Man.
Pendleton, July 20. Orvllle Tur
ner, a highly respected young man of
this city, and for a number of years
In the employ of the O. R. A N. com
pany, died Saturday morning at We-
na-ha Springs. He was afflicted with
Brlght's disease and after leaving the
employ of the railroad company and
falling to regain his health, he went
to the springs and took charge of the
swimming pool and baths. The change
seemed to be beneficial and Mr. Tur
ner was In good spirits, being hopeful
of ultimate recovery. He was fish
ing all day Friday and returned feel
ing very well, but was atUcked during
the night with the disease, and died
early Saturday morning.
