plays the political game on hla own

prophesying that before the campaign
Is over the country will be convinced
that It was Taft shrewdness that made
the Roosevelt administration such a
picturesque success. .

are pleased to contrast his behavior

and for all. They are rather proud
of the fact that Judge Taft did not
do It that way. Thoy believe he will
be the stronger for this display of

land the chairmanship. They wanted

havo been laboring on ever since Sec
retary Taft started out to get the
Buckeye deelgatlon to the Chicago
convention.
The recent repeated visits of Sena
tor Dick of Ohio, to Private Citizm
Taft hns led to the belief that the
presidential candidate Is seeking to
pacify all factions In Ohio at one fell
swoop. Previous to the offensive and
defensive alliance between Senator
Foraker and Senator .Pick, caused by
the White House opposition to some
of their plans, Senator Dick's colscsl
allies In his Ohio ftislits were the pres
ent Ohio bosses) who have been try'"
to put the Buckeye senators to sleep.
Walter Brown, chairman of the state
central committee; Henry B- Williams,
chairman of the state executive com
mittee, and State Auditor Walter Guil
