THINGS ARTIFICIAL ARE AT BEST BUT A DECEPTIVE IMITATION
OF THINGS NATURAL.
Can an Impure fountain send forth pore water?
Our Ice Is not dependent upon a brewery or saloon for its supply,
tt la furnished by the God of Nature, Who sends forth the sparkling streams
from the mountain side. It Is taken from the river above the duck ponds
nd sawmills, and Is the PUREST ICE on THIS MARKET.

nOOZE IN DRY COUNTY.
Pemlloton Bankrupt Saloon Stock to
Be Sold by Referee.
That peculiar bankruptcy case at
Pendleton, where a saloon stock w
ordered sold In a dry county, that was
ground for comment In all papers of
the state, and much wonderment by
those who were aware of the peculiar
conditions, has at last been ferreted
out.
Though the prohibition law Is In
effect Its provisions do not prevent
the sale at auction of a bankrupt stock
it liquors for the reason that the na
tional bankruptcy law provides for the
public sale of bankrupt stocks.
The Pendleton East Oregonlan says
of the Incident:
Judge Thomas Fits Gerald, referee
In bankrutpcy, has set July 18 at 10
Vclock Vis a time for selling the bank
rupt stock and fixtures of the Maze
saloon, owned by Hansen ft Olsen,
The sale will be held at 114 West
Court street where the stock Is now
Vtored, and the entire list of fixtures,
Iquors and tobaccos will be sold at
tuctlon. The various articles will be
told by cases.
