Wheat In Dry County Will lie V to
I'Hiiol Standard.
A conservative estimate of this
year's wheat crop In Umatilla county,
and a sane view of the conditions is
given by Will Moore, the well known
representative of the Pacific " Coast
Elevator company, says the Pendle
ton Tribune.' Mr. Moore, within the
past few days, has been over a large
part of the wheat section of the coun
ty. "We will not have as much wheat
as we have had In some years past,
and vie will have more than we have
hud In some other years," said Mr.
Moore yesterday. "We are going to
have a lot more wheaf than most pen
pie think. It Is entirely too early to
attempt an estimate of the total yield
In bushels for the weather conditions
between now and tlnn to harvest will
mnke a great different. The ulx-nl
is not all past danger, neither Is it
past help. The weuther will pluy un
important part.
"Of course, down in the lower
country the dumugo Is cnm-lderuhle,
but still, even there. It Is not as bad
ns It tnlKht be ami not as bad as I have
seen It. Through tho up r section
there Is plenty of good when! and op
portunity for big yields with favorable
weather, even yet. But as I said, we
are golnif to have tv lot more wheat
than people think we are, und condi
tions, although a "Idle dubious, aie
not nearly so bud as they have been
In years past, nor as bad as tin y
might be. I think mure of Umatilla
county this year than ever before."
