Gut Oil and Gas.
Word was received from Dufur this
morning, which there Is every reason
to believe Is authoritative, saying that
oil as well as natural gas has been
discovered on land owned by the Bea-
vls-Mny Oil company. Although only
a short distance had been bored a
conHlderable flow of oil and natural
gas was the result A card from Eu
gene Collins of Dufur, was later re
ceived by S. L. Brooks, verifying the
news. It Is stated that the oil flow
was on the place of C. P. Batch. If
this proves to be a good well it means
a great deal for the eastern Oregon
country and coupled with her splendid
fruit Industry, Wasco county will In
deed be In a position to be envied.

Not only did Colon county run dry
yesterday, but ditto the Blue Moun
tain creamery In this city. So great
and unexpected was the rush on the
buttermilk can that the company waa
forced to turn thirsty patrons away
before the close of business lust night.
So many have got the habit of lute,
there being nowhere to quench one's
thirst, that the company wilt hereaf
ter save more of its buttermilk and
will not have to turn anyone away
unless, of course, the whole city gets
to drinking, the popular beverage.
