Natural Ice is The Best
THINGS ARTIFICIAL ARE AT BEST BUT A DECEPTIVE IMITATION
OF THINGS NATURAL.
Can an Impure fountain send forth pure water?
Our Ice 'la not dependent upon a brewery or saloon for Its supply.
It U furnished by the God of Nature, Who sends forth the sparkling streams
from the mountain side. It Is taken from the river above the duck ponds
and sawmill, and Is the PUREST ICE on THIS MARKET.

Sill RUSH
' Last night about $:39 o'clock, near
ly a dozen men were seen to edge
toward the door of the United States
land office and a few moments af
terward . there, "was a sudden "left
dress," forming the nucleus of a land
office rush on the plan of those seen
here last year, but nowhere near the
same size. As predicted In the Ob
server last evening there may have
been menJitSre for two weeks or more
prepared for this action, but a large
portion of those who have spent days
here to be first in the line that is to
tile on the large tracts in the Blue
mountain national forest that will be
thrown open to entry tomorrow morn
ing at o'clock, were "stung."
Though they, have been on constant
watch for days, they ww i.oi i- it
by five, who today hold their seats
right up close to the door. The even
ing train brought In a smalt group
half dozen or so from Sumpter
under pilotage of Cruiser Sword of
Sumpter, but when they reached here
they found the line already formed.
As a result, they did not take the in
conveniences of a 2-hour wait, but
preferred to remain In the city, !
close proximity to the land office,
where they can quickly form In line
If there Is any material addition to
It tonight.
The land which these men seek
reaches from the south fork of the
John Day on the south and touches
Albce on the north. Sixteen town
ships were thrown open for settle
ment a month ago and will be subject
to entry tomorrow morning at 9:08
o'clock.
