KILLED UNDER TRAIIf. ; . '
Tried to Steal Hide to WalluU and Is
Ground to Piece on Track.
James Bridges, a stranger In Waila
Walla, but evidently a worklngman,
last night was literally ground to
pieces under the outgoing o'clock
train to Wallula over the O. K. ft N.
It la thought the man attempted to
beat the company out of a ride and
at the time he fell under the wheels
he was trying to swing underneath
onto the "rods," says the Walla Walla
Bulletin. ' .
The. express messenger on the train
heard or felt the wheels passing over
something, nnd signaled the train to
top. An investigation revealed parte
of the body scattered along the track.
The features of the man's face were
not recognizable, as the head was
crushed. The man was Identified by
a labor union card showing a mem
bership In the Shingle Weavers' union,
Local No. 13. The card was lnsued

THE HAY CHOI.
Timothy and Alfulfa a Little Short
Wild Hny Very CJood.'' v '
.. ... i .
One. of the best Informed men of
the valley says of the hay "crop for
this year:
"The total cut throughout the val
ley will be a little short, compared
with last year's crop. I believe .the
wild hay Is up to the average, but
the timothy Is not quite as good as
ununl; neither is the alfalfa. The tim
othy and wild hay are also late, and
before cutting time we may get
enough rain to help considerably.
