board meeting last evening. The meet
ing was called to canvas the election
returns of the recent vote to elect a
successor to Colv F. S. Ivanhoe, and
this done, there was a formal shift
ing, in whWr. trie retiring president of
the board, T. fj. Ivanhoe,, stepped
down, David Bay assumed the. presi
dency, and VT, L. Brenholts was given
the oath of office. These changes
followed the canvass ot um , im.u
Mr. Ivanhoe presided. Immediately
afterward,' Mr. Brenholts was sworn
In and the new president seated. Mr
Bay is the oldest member of the board
In point of service, and for this rea
son was entitled to the chair. His
reign will end one year from now,
when the next oldest member takes

Some Business Done.
While the meeting was a purely
formal one, and cams to an end as
promptly as possible to allow mem
bers of the board who are councilman
to Keep both engagements, there was
nevertheless . steps taken ' touching
upon the school faculty. Miss Sarah
Riddle's resignation was . presented
and accepted. . Her place will be
tilled by Lydla Hug of South .La
Qrande.
. Meet Again Friday.
Next Friday night the board meets
In regular session. At that time bids
will be opened far completing the up
per story of the brick structure in
North La Grande. This will be the
principal business to como before thp.t
