HEW iei
mis WEEK
Because the electric line being ex
tended 'to the ball grounds 'at Walla
Walla is not completed. La Grande
fans will have the pleasure of seeing
the local professionals take the Gar
den City ball tossirs In tow In a four
gamo series commencing next Thurs
day afternoon.' The Walla Wallans
played at Baker City last ' week and
will come to La Grande' next, thus
breaking the schedule slightly,, but
nevertheless giving local fans a game
this week. -
Walla Walla Is the only team In the
Inland Empire league that the Babes
have not given a drubbing, and the
up to the highest pitch.
In sporting circles at Portland, La
Grande's team is looked upon as some
thing out of the ordinary for the rea
son that it boasts of 10 games won
out of 12 played. If the same ratio,
or anything like It, s maintained
throughout the season, the locals will
not only finish In the lead, but with a
remarkably high average.
The first game of the home series
opens on Thursday afternoon. If the
delightful weather of the week open
ing hovers over us for a week more,
record-breaking crowds will no doubt
result. .
One June 11, one week' from nest
Thursday, the county court of .Union

feet on the dnte picrlbcd by law.
namely, July 1. The date of meet
ing is optional with the Court, but the
court and Its members decided to
meet as early as convenient.
New Of fUvrs Soon.
