w. b. Orandy, the Ice man, au
tained aerloua Injuries yesterday
while riding a horse. The animal
reared and fell over backwards, car
rylng the rider with him. The weight
of the, animal fell on Mr. Grandy'f
chest, and had ha not been physically
robust,, he would undoubtedly have
sustained more serious Injury than he
did. As It was, hla chest was badly
squeezed, although ' no ' bones were
broken ' He was taken to his home
and Is today in considerable pain. He
is unable to leave hla bed. but will re
cover rapidly unless other compllca-
tions set in. ,
Mr. Orandy was riding one horse
and leading another, when the one
being led Dulled back, draairln the
rider and horso
over, the horse being
ridden falling as above stated, upon
Mr. Orandy. The accident occurred
about four ml'.es from tho city, in
what Is known as Deal canyon.

The Ladles Aid society of the Pres
byterian church held a business meet
ing yesterday afternoon. While noth
ing definite was decided, the ladles
are considering giving a progressive
dinner In the near future.

Carpy entertained about 2D ladles at
a thimble party thla afternoon In hon

Given Dinner Next Saturday.
Considerable Interest center In the
Memorlaf day program which will be
carried out next Saturday as announc
ed In The Observer last evening. Aside
from the exercises which last through
the day, the ladles of the W. R. C. will
entertain the members of the G. A. R.
and the 46 little girls who will take
part In the program. The entertain
ment will consist of a dinner at 12
o'clock, at the Odd Fellows' hall. Im.
mediately following the dinner, the
line of march to the tabernacle, where
the afternoon program ls toe carried
out, vlll be formed.
The float carrying the representa
tives of the state of the union, is in

Three Montlis of Holidays for the Sta
dent After Tomorrow,
Although the present school year
does not end until tomorrow, there
will be no ringing of bells after today.
The last of the examinations were
held today, and tomorrow will be a
matter of form only. The grades will
be handed out by the various teachers
during Friday. .
Immediately afterwards the teach
ers will take to their summer quarters.
Some are going back east, ' some to
California and others, are planning
quiet summer vacations in remote
corners of the state.
