thorities were astounded today when
City Comptroller Robblns "confessed"
that the had been holding out city
revenues for eight years and now has
$100,000 In the bank to the credit of
the city. No one knew his secret but
the mayors who had served during
that time.
Robblns said he knew the aldermen
would spend the money If they had
It. so he undertook to save the munici
pality a certain amount for a rainy
day. .
The aldermen are furious, as they
recently floated a bond Issue of $125,
000 for city water works. Kobblns
withheld the money coming to the city
each year from the road fund, and
none of the aldermen knew the city
got a revenue from that source.
