Authentic Evidence to Prove That She

' South La Grande can Justly boast
of being the home of the oldest hen

In all the United States. So far as
we are able to learn there Is no au

found anywhere. She Is the propert:
of Mrs. Charles Knapp, who raised
her and who knows beyond any doub'
exactly how old she Is. Each year
besides contributing her rightful share
of eggs, she has hatched and cared'
for two broods of chicks. This yea:
ihe shows no evidence of being read;
to retire from business, and all indl
cations point to the usual crop of egg
and chicks for the year 1908. Mrs
Knapp does notvknow to what partic
ular breed she belongs. The hen lr
almost pure white, having only a fev.
