"Passion week" at the Electric
promisee to be the greatest attraction
ever brought to this city in the the
atrical line. Manager Sherwood who
tonight opens the first performance of
a solid week of the same program,
states that the series of reels which
combine o make a film considerably
over 3000 feet in length, Is something
remarkable.
The presentation of this drawing
card means the rendition of two
strong musical numbers by C. P. Fer-
rln, the house soloist The first song
will be the "The New Born King.'
The second ti that classic entitled
"Holy City." Both are especially well
adapted for Mr. Ferrln's voice.
The film Itself Is. made up in four
reels. The first is entitled, "The Life
of Jesus Christ" Then follows the
first named song. The second reel Is
"The Holy Family at Naxareth." This
!: ;w, after a short wait by
"Christ Walking on the Water."
The last song in the attraction fol
lows this reel. "Jesus Falls Under the
Weight of the Cross. Is the last of
thS' set ' Naturally, and needless to
say, the entire set combines to make
what is undoubtedly the strongest at
traction that will be seen In a local
show house for a long time.
The prices for the week are 15
cents. There will be a matinee, on
Wednesday at the special prices, no
souvenirs being given away on that
occasion. The Saturday matinee is 10
cents for children. " . I '
The Fruit Industry.
"About a year ago there were 25,-
000 acres of apples and pears In Jack
son county alone," said Commissioner
Cat-son. "This year 9000 more acres
have been planted in apples and
pears. . About 65 per cent of the new
acreage is in pears mostly of the
Cornice "and Bartlett varieties. Doug
laa county is planting about '. 1000
acres of pears and apples this year.
Prunes cover 2000 additional acres in
that county. This makes, perhaps,
15,000. acres how set in prunes. In
Josephine 500 acres of apples .and
pears have been planted, with about
600 acres of Concord grapes.' Jack
son county has had about 130 acres of
new ;;rape p'-antlne- The lir.S is j
u-.g cleared rapidly and next year
there will be about 6000 acres of
grapes, mostly Concords, planted in
Josephine county alone." Valley

ful cough that my friends declared
consumption had me, and death was
on my heels. Then I was persuaded
to try DT King's New Discovery. It
