Pendleton Xot Coming This Week on
Account of the Grandstand.
The baseball series scheduled with
Pendleton In this city, to commence
Thursday and end Friday, has been
postponed by mutual consent, due to
the fact that the carpenters failed to
complete the grandstand, and the lo
cal promoters did not wish to break
the grounds In until everything Is, In
readiness. Just when the Pendleton
mmn will be pulled off here depends
on the' alacrity with which the cou
tractors complete their work. The
frequent rains of late are deterring
completion considerably. f
The Pendleton Pets play at Walla
Walla on Sunday, the first game of
the season between those two teams.

Pot Dog Around Railroad Yards Killed
by Freight This Morning;.
"Blizzard," the bird dog owned by
Ed Thomas, round house foreman,
and which has for long been a pet of
all railroad employes, met a tragic
death this morning. An Incoming
stock train ran over the animal and
amputated one limb at the hip. The
suffering of the brute was so Intense
that employes who saw the accident
quickly dispatched him. The loss of
the dog Is common grief about . : the
shops. The bird dog had been a con
stant companion of all the employes,
Two other sincere mourners are Etna
and Frank Thomas. ,
