Loral Option In Peoria.
Peoria, 111, April 21. A speclt.1 lo
cal option is being held here today to
enable the voters to decide between
prohibition' or saloons. Peoria Is one
of the country's leading centers of the
distilling Industry and it is highly un
likely that the "drys" will be success
ful. Local option elections are also In
progress today In Quiney, Streator, Ot
tawa, East St. Louis, La Salle and Ga
lena. The voters In these towns have
been wrought to a high pitch of ex
citement by the conflict between the
"wets" and the "drys," and an un
usually large vote has been cast. The
success of the Anti-Saloon league In
the local option elections held hi many
Illinois cities and towns on April 1
has caused the workers to redouble
thi'lr efforts, and It is likely that they
will win a victory In several towns
where the Issue is being fought out to
day, "
