The building will have a complete steam heating plant In the basement, and the heat ing und ventilating systems will be perfect. J. X. Roberts of this city, has the contract for the foundation; J. D. Sla ter of La Grande, the contract for the balance of the building, and the Sutherland Heating company of Walla Walla will Install the heating plant and plumbing. New furniture has been contracted for from the North west Furniture company of Portland. Prof. E. G. Bailey of North Powder, an educator of 20 years' experience, has been engaged as principal for the next two years. There will be 12 grades taught In the new building, In cluding the high school course, and hereafter it will not be necessary for parents to send their children away from Elgin to complete their school ing, unless they wish to take a collegi ate or academic course.
