WHY NOT?
The Observer Is a firm believer In
political parties. This 'country must
ties, and the best possible legislation
will only be secured when we havej
two strong parties. La ' Grande Ob
server. '
We agree with the 1 Grande Ob
server that polltcal parties are a neces
sity,, but we will never have strong
political parties so long as we have
We would suggest that the fault Is
not with the primary law as with the
manner of applying It. When the par
ties hold their state and county con
ventions prior to the nominating
period and adopt their platforms, then
there Is no more reason why strong
parties cannot be maintained thnn un
der the old convention nominating
system. . As It is, every candidate, If
he adopts any platform at all, and
most of them do not, makes It him
self, and to conform to circumstances
peculiar to himself. If the Btate con
vention met prior to the nominations
and formulated a state platform as
suggested by delegates from every
county in the state, It' would mean
something.. If candidate did not agree
with the platform, he tn reality would
not be a republican. If the platform
was not right the party would get a
deserving chastisement and would not
make the same mistake again. Herein
would be the responsibility.. As It Is
there Is no responsibility, every can
dldnte Is a free lance to interpret his
own policy or platform..
parties cither mean something or
nothing. If 'we continue our present
policy they will amount to very little,
for the responsibility Is placed
only In the Individual candidate and
there Is no way, to prohibit anyone
from becoming a candidate. By hold
ing the state conventions first, then
it a. candidate comes out as a repub
lican or a democrat, It means that he
Is In acocrd with his party platform...

RubbiLg with liniments, blistering the affected parts, the application
relieving the pains and aches of Rheumatism, but such remedies do no
reach the CAUSE of the disease, and are therefore In no sense curative
Rheumatism is due to an excess of uric acid in the blood, brought about Irrf
indigestion, poor bowel action, weak kidneys, and a general sluggish conditioffN
of th system. The circulation deposits this irritating poison in the different
muscles, nerves, tissues and joints of the body, and soon the painful symptoms!
of Rheumatism are produced. The pains at first may be wandering and slight
but as the blood becomes more fully saturated with the uric acid poison, ths
disease grows worse and after awhile gets to be chronic. The slight, wander-l
inir oaina now become share and cuttinar at the least exposure to dampnes s
or night air, or any constitutional irregularity, the bones ache, the musclei
are not as free in action as before, and where tne acta poison is anowea tot
remain in the blood the joints often become so clogged with corrosive sub l
stances that they are left permanently stilt ana useless, uneumausm caci
jever be rubbed away, nor can it be conquered and driven from the system!
until the acia-iacien Diooa nas oeen cieansea
and purified. No other medicine does this so v
effectually as S. S. S. It dissolves and tt
moves the impurities and sends a stream bf
rich, strong blood to the affected parts, whtoi
soothes the irritated nerves, inflamed muscles
and flesh, and the sufferer obtains relief that
is permanent because the real cause of the
disease has been removed. Special book on Rheumatism, and nnv medical
advice desired free. THE SWIFT SPECIFIC CO., ATLANTA, GA
