Activity in the development of the vst property and consent of the coun

This is another step In the develop-

Umatilla will be covered with a net-

Is the objective point of the company,
says the Pendleton East Oregonlan.
On next Monday evening the com
pany will present a formal applica
tion to the city council of Weston for
a franchise to use the streets of that
town and work of securing right of
wsy between Weston and Milton is
being carried on constantly.
The Wall, fltnmnn nt Mon-

Franchise was asked from the
county commissioners this afternoon
by the Washington-Oregon Traction
company to run their line along the
county road, leaving the city limits at
the cemetery and thence along the
ast side of the cemetery for, half a
time ago. The backers of the propo
sition say that work will be begun as
soon as possible and pushed to an
early completion.
It la to run south to Athena, Wes
ton, Wallowa, Pendleton and to Bing
ham Springs, rumor soys, before It Is
completed. There Is also another
well-founded report which says that
this road Is tovbe merged with the
Pomeroy-Asotln-Wallula road, which
Is In the preliminary stages of con
struction. The consideration of this franchise
was the only business of Importance
before the commissioners today.
There Is not the least doubt about
the Intention of the Walla Walla
Traction company to build to Pendle

those who are In a position to know,
and It Is thought that as soon as the
Weston franchise Is secured that work
will begin between Weston and Pen
