FRVIT TREES IN BLOOM.
Orchards About MUtun Are Taking on
Pretty Colorings.
More and unmistakable signs of
spring are at .irand. Several peach
trees in the city are in full blossom,
and some of them have been tor two
days, says the Walla Walla Statesman.
Near Milton and Freewater the trees
have been in bloom for four or five
days. In a few more revolutions of
the earth the trees will be flowering in
good shape and the harbingers of
spring will be ready for a frost In
speaking of a possible freese one of
the fruitgrowers of- the valley said to
day: "Well, I wouldn't mind a light frost
I never saw the blossoms so heavy on
the trees and a few of them killed
would save a lot of work thinning.
However, if there is no frost, I guess
we can get the fruit thinned by hand.
Prospects at this time certainly look
good, but It Is a little too early to pre
dict a fruit crop."

VIOLATING FISH LAW.
The.Meachaiu Lumber Company Has
Dumped Shavings In Creek.
That the laws for the protection of
fish In eastern Oregon streams, at
least will be rigidly ' enforced, - is
shown by the action of Deputy War
den O. F. Turner of this city, who has
made complaint against the Meacham
Lumber company for dumping planer
shavings in Meacham creek, thereby
violating the state law and Injuring
the fish possibilities of the stream.
For some time past the sawmill
company has been dumping shavings
In the stream and the matter has just
been called to the attention of the
deputy warden, who made a thorough
Investigation and found that the com
pany is openly violating the law.
As. Meacham creek has been
stocked with young trout during the
past few years, especial attention to
the protection and. propagation of the
fish will be given as the shavings In
the stream mean the death of them,
drastic measures to prevent the "pollu
tion of the stream In this way, will be
taken. '
C. w. Nibley, Jr.. who Is manager
of the Meacham Lumber company, Is
now out of the state, but as soon as
ne returns, wnicn win ue in a suun
time, the matter will be brought to
Issue. Pendleton East Oregonlan.
- Spend Bummer In Oregon.
A recent report from Klamath
Falls states that Mrs. E. H. Harrlman
wife of the, railroad ' magnate, will
spend a portion of the coming sum
mer season at Pelican Bay lodge, with
the children of the family accompany
ing, and the party will enjoy the
matchless fishing of Klamath waters
and scenery and Crater lake, while
here. It Is understood that Improve
ments will be made at Pelican Bay
' . .!.: .arly part of the summer
to make the place more comfortable,
but without detracting from Its charm
of natural forest, sequestered nooks
undisturbed by the hunter or fisher
man, except the guests of the owners
of the splendid upper lakes property,
where It Is probable will be estab
lished one of the finest private fishing
and game preserves in the Pacific
coast states.
Cured Hemorrhages of the Lungs.
"Several years since my lungs were
so badly affected that I had many
hemorrhages," writes A. M. Ake, of
Wood, Ind. "I took treatment with
several physicians without any bene'
fit I then 'started to take . Foley's
Honey and Tar, and my lungs art
now as sound as a bullet - I recom
mend It In advanced stages of lung
trouble." Foley's Honey and Tx
stops the cough and heals the lungs
ana prevents serious results from s
cold. Refuse substitutes. A. T, Hill.
