Last night at f:4S death removed
from among the respected citizens of
L Grande James W. McCoy, aged 55
years, who had been ailing; for four
weeks, but confined to bis bc-d fur the
short period of only four days.
The funeral will be held Sunday af
, ternoon at 2 o'clock from the Catholic
church.
James W. McCoy was born In Fond
du Lao, Wis., September 27. 1IS2. and
cama to La Grande In 1174. After 19
years' residence here, he returned to

cy, and Immediately returned to La
Grande, the couple making this their
k permanent home' ever since. To Mr.
and Mrs. McCoy have been born six
children, five of them surviving; to
comfort the mother and widow In her
bereavement The children are: Vera,
Bay, Leo, Patrick, Margaret Other
relatives who survive are four sisters,
Mesdames Sarah Rogers,' Stella Des
mond and Mary Parrel, all of north
ern Michigan, and Mrs. Kate Morton
of Seattle, Wash.
None of these will be present, at the
funeral. James McCoy, formerly of
South La Grande, Is sn uncle of the
deceased. John McNeely, who resides
In the valley, Is a cousin of the de
ceased. Mr. McCoy enjoyed two distinctions.
He was the first marshal La Grande
