YOUR WORK
Is what we want. We don't
call on you one week for it and
tell you the next we cannot do it for
you. We want it now, and all the time;
We do not think it necessary at this time to say
anything about the class of work we turnout
The fact that we have been in the LAUN
' DRY business for twelve years in La
Grande we think sufficient evi-
dence that our work is sat
isfactory. Try it.

THE HAHFORD ATTRACTION
Barge scene given
A novel and extraordinary depart
ure haa been made by Charles B. Han
ford in his magnificent spectacular
revival of "Antony and Cleopatra,"
which will be displayed on Monday,
March 23, at Steward's opera houge.
No play in all the classics affords
greater opportunity for luxurious em
bellishment One incident alone of
Cleopatra's career, her appearance on
the river Kile in a Jeweled, silken
sailed barge, has afforded one of the
most tempting themes known to
painter or poet. The Hanford produc
tion Introduces the barge scene with
both pictorial and dramatic effect. 1
The exhibitions of authentic represen
tation of some of the most celebrated
and resplendent architecture of an
cient Egypt are made reallBtlo and
convincing by every artifice which
seen mlnter and electrician can
command. A series of moving and
still pictures is employed during the
opening overture in order to give at
mosphere to the first scene. These
pictures are so arranged that the spec
tator seems to be making the Journey
along the Nile to the place where the
action of the play begins. It Is a re
markable device and one never before
employed with Buch forceful and le
gitimate dramatic effect.
The scenery for this production was
painted by M. Armbruster. the cele
brated German-American artist, whose
studies of Shakespearean subjects
have made htm world-famous. 'The
dances were arranged by M. T. Tros
tier of Cleveland. O., whose record for
presenting great and intricate ensem
ble effects ' Is unsurpassed. A corps
de ballejt led by a premiere of conced
ed eminence in her art, appears In the
scenes representing the lavish enter
tainment with which Cleopatra was
wont to beguile the senses of her Ro
man lover. The lighting effects will
be under the direction of the com
pany's own electrician, and a leader
traveling with the organization will be
In charge of the house, orchestra. - F.
Lawrence Walker, manager of the
Hanfprd company, arrived in the city
yesterday to look after the preliminary
arrangements for this production.
The role of Marc Antony Is, of
course, assumed by Charles B. Han
ford. His success In it this season Is.
In a sense, a continuation of his tri
umph in portraying the same historic
personage In "Julius Caesar" the year
prevloas. Miss Alice Wilson has a
part befitting her distinguished tal
ents in Cleopatra. The company In
cludes most of the favorites who have
been appearing In Mr. Hanford's sup
port from season to season and In ad
dition there are new members who
have speedily won places for them
selves in popular confidence.
