STEWARD'S
Animal
Charles B. Hanford and his man
ager, F. It. Walker, hare been devot
ing many months to the preparation
of the forthcoming spectacular pro
duction of "Antony and Cleopatra,"
which wlll'be seen on Monday, March
23, at Steward's opera house. .The
play has been the admiration of play
ers, public and critics alike. . Cleopa
tra, a supreme figure in the historic
events of her day, has remained
through centuries the Inspiration of
genius. The library, the picture gal
lery and the stags continue to reflect
her marvelous personality. In order
to give an adequate representation of
this play it is necessary to greatly ex
pand even the large equipment Mr.
Hanford has been accustomed to carry.
A. special corps de balelt accompanied
by a premiere danseuse of rare grace
and accomplishments, will add pic-
turesqueness and at the same time
realism to the revelries with which
the Egyptian queen was wont to enter
tain the mighty Roman conqueror who
m her wllllnr cnntlve. The ele
ment of music has not been neglected,
a special director being In charge ot
orchestra and chorus. One of ' the
most Important of many gorgeour
itage pictures will be that which re
veals Cleopatra's barge In all its mag
nificence. It Is confidently assertei'
by all who have seen this productlo:
that utterly eclipses anything with
which Mr. Hanford, In all his splendl
experience as a star and a producer o'
plays, has been Identified. The roll
uf Cleopatra is Interpreted by M1e
Alice Wilson, Who during her Amerl
enn experience, for she is an Engllfl
woman, has been In support of sui'l
noted players as Nat Goodwin, Otis
Skinner, Charles Haw-trey and Viola
Allen.
