Engine No. 1J, which went Into the
ditch near Pendleton yesterday morn
lng, will be taken to the Alblna shope
(oi- repair as soon as the wrecking
crew, which Is still on the scene,
straightens out the wreck. Dlvlolon
Foreman Wtason, who was with the
crew yesterday, returned this morn'
lng and reports that the crew will
complete the work this afternoon
some time and probably reach La
Gruiide late this evening.
T'.:u engine Itself Is damaged but
llti'.r. and $600 will cover the entire
damage to the locomotive complete.
When the engine rolled over, It rvsied
parallel with the main line, and cleur
ed the tracUs about 18 Inches. This.
was sufficient to allow the rest of the
train to pans later. The tunk and
dead-head baggage car, however, wtre
what gave the moBt trouble to thi
wrecking crew, and it la the tank that
sustained the heaviest damage. The
tank broke loose from the entlne and
rested crosswise of the track. The
baggage car did the same thing.
Some effectual work was done by the
wrecking crew. The tank was righted
and placed on blocks, and the car was
picked up between the hours of 10: SO
and 2:30 o'clock."
The tank will be loaded on a flat
car and taken to Alblna, while the en
gine itself will be righted today and
trailed to the shops.
