To negotiate the lease or purchase
of 22 acres of land, located suitably
near 'the city, to be conveniently
reached by pedestrians, to push with
vim to a completion the athletic park
plans which have been hatching for
the past few weeks, is the aim of
committee appointed at the meetlnf
o( athletic park promoters and base
ball fans in the Commercial club las
evening.
The athletic park question consum
ed a 'greater portion of the evenlng'f
discusHlon, although professional base
ball received its share of attention
But the sense of those assembled
hleh numbered about 10, quickly re
solved Itself down to the point that
yfi". T.n Omnde can promote a pro.
fcsslonal baseball park. It Is absolute
'y necestary that the city have a suit
able ground for the games to be played
on. And it was also plainly evident
that to build a baseball grandstand
and procure only such ground as It
necessary for iJ diamond, would be
disastrous to further park movements.
With these two premises the commit
tee, which met briefly after the fan?
had adjourned, had little difficulty in
reaching a unanimous agreement tha
first and foremost a place for base
ball must be provided, and seconc
hat while spending money and effor'
inyway, there Is but one logical pro
edure to follow: secure sufficient lam'
jy lease or purchase, that will even
.ually. If not this seasonr allow fo
nnstructlon of a half-mile trad
here horse and auto raring can b'
orrled on in conjunction with trad
neets.
Then, when a park is In sight, o.
under process of construction, baseba'
promoters can go out and secure thi
li sired financial support necessary fo
he maintenance of a team In Lp

The committee appointed last eve
ling will In a few days have sonv
oglcal solution to present and lmme
'lately upon announcement of Its
Jlans, If they are successful, the pro
esslonal baseball project will b
ushed to a satisfactory apex.
Support should be given this com

This Is an ailment which In a treat
majority of cases proves fnt:il. In

frequent, but of late has apparently
disappeared to a certain extent. Late
yesterday afternoon the operation was
performed and today, though hopes

pnysicians and hospital attendants
can see a change for the better.
Considering the extreme dangerous-
ness of the disease, Mr. Ball Is resting
satisfactorily today.
He was taken suddenly III while on
Ms route a few days ago, and has
since been confined to his home on
the $'orth Side, until yesterday after
noon, when he was taken to the hOj-pltal.
