With the exception of attaching a
few pipes and attending to minor de
tail, the air lift which will operate
the artesian water supply for the rail
road yards. Is almost complete.
As soon as ' finished the surface
pump which has been doing the work
partially satisfactory thus far, will be
substituted by the air lift and then,
the officials believe, they will have
a more satisfactory water system,
The air pump Is installed and ready
to work, but the connections are not
all made yet. Although the air pump
Is to do the work hereafter, the sur
face water pump will be maintained,
ready for use at a moment's notice,
should the air system lemiui be
come disabled.
The air pump will lift the, water
from the artesian well by means of a
small pipe that extends down In the
well a depth of 100 feet, ' and then
turns up again.' In this way a force
of air equal to 100 pounds to the
square Inch, will be applied to the
"automatic" stream from beneath, In
suring Btrong pressure. It is believed and as the organization Is completed
