ketball team will arrive In La Grande
tomorrow evening from the west and
spend the night and Friday here rest
ing up for the game with the local
team on Friday night.
With the players will be the coach
and manager and substitutes, the to
tal number reaching 10, as that num
ber is required to procure reduced
rates. The team will probably leave
La Grande Friday night on the west
bound, as the Garden City quintet will
compete with the Pendleton high
school the evening following.

RESUME LOCAL TRAIN.
Regular Passenger Between Pendleton
and Wall Walla Soon.
On Sunday, February 23, the O. R.
& N. company will voluntarily re-establish
the regular passenger train
between this city and Walla Walla,
and it will be kept In service perma
nently thereafter, it is thought, says
the Pendleton East Oregonian.
Agent F. J. Qulnlan, of the O. R,
in. onices in tnis city, today re
ceived a message authorizing the new
service and giving the schedule of
the trains which is as follows:
Train 45 will leave Walla Walla
every morning at 9 o'clock and will
arrive at Pendleton at 10:45.
Returning train 4( will leave Pen
dleton at 4:50 and will reach Walla
Walla at 6:60. The mixed trains,
Nos. 41 and 42 will be continued in
service but will not carry passengers
after that date.
This action on the part of the O
R. & N. company, Is greatly appreci
ated by the people of the east end of
Umatilla county and the train la as
sured of an excellent patronage.
Rlparia Line Is About Done.
The work of Installing the con
crete culverts between Almota and
Lewiston will be commenced at A!
mota today by a crew of 60 men un
der L. C. McCoy, In charge of bridge
construction for the Harrfman lines
In the northwest, says the Lewiston
Teller,
Preparatory to this construction a
work train was brought to Lewiston
last night and secured the tools and
equipment stored at Holbrook's Island
to be used In the camps engaged In
the bridge and culvert work. There
are 30 concrete culverts with steel
stringers and about the same number
of cast pipe culverts to be Installed
between Almota and Lewiston.
A report received from Rlparia last
night stated the derrick and equip
ment cars of McCleary & Wlllard had
not yet reached that point, and this
equipment may not reach LewUton to
day. In .the meantime, however, the
bridge crew will be assembled here
preparatory to beginning work as as
soon as the equipment arrives.
The construction of the bridge will
be under the supervision of L. C. Mc
Coy, who will be In Lewiston during
much of the time the structure I
building.
